Roy’s return for seconds ahead of Blast opener

JASON ROY’s break from cricket is set to end today when he turns out for Surrey’s Second XI before a formal return in the Vitality Blast on Friday.
Roy pulled out of the IPL in February to spend time with his family, saying bubble life had “taken its toll”. While he has been training for the last few weeks, he has not played since.
In March, he was handed a mysterious, unexplained fine and suspended ban by the ECB’s Cricket Discipline Commission, understood to relate to an off-field incident last summer.
Roy is set to be in Surrey’s squad for their Blast opener against Glamorgan on Friday and should be back in contention for international duty when Eoin Morgan’s white-ball side travel to the Netherlands next month.
