COVENT GARDEN’S BUSKERS MAY BE CURBED BY NEW LAWS

WESTMINSTER council was set to decide today whether to enforce licensing laws to regulate street performers in Covent Garden. It said it was considering action following a rise in complaints about about sites in the West End.

However, the Covent Garden Street Performers Association fears rules about pitch size, sound amplification and dangerous items will mean acts such as juggling and acrobatics will become almost impossible.
