Prince ‘served again’ with sexual assault lawsuit

John Dunne Crime Reporter

LAWYERS for the woman suing the Duke of York over sexual assault allegations have again claimed to have served legal papers on him, according to a document filed in a New York court.

The lawyers, who represent Virginia Giuffre, say in the document that the civil lawsuit was sent by FedEx and email to his US-based lawyer.

A FedEx notification shows the documents were delivered to Andrew B Brettler at Lavely & Singer in Los Angeles yesterday.

The filing says papers were also sent “to the designated central authority of the United Kingdom on the court’s behalf”.

The 61-year-old royal had previously been accused by a judge in America of “actively evading” formal efforts to serve him papers.

Ms Giuffre’s legal team likened the situation to a “game of hide and seek behind palace walls”.

A copy of the lawsuit had been previously left with a police officer at the main gates of the The Royal Lodge, Windsor Great Park.

The duke’s lawyers claimed the papers had not been properly served,

US district judge Lewis Kaplan then ruled that Ms Giuffre’s legal team could try delivering the papers to his LA-based lawyer instead. Ms Giuffre is suing the Queen’s son for unspecified damages for allegedly sexually assaulting her when she was a teenager.

The duke, pictured, has denied all the allegations. He previously said the sexual encounters “didn’t happen” and suggested a photo showing him with Ms Giuffre may have been doctored.

He is reportedly staying at the Queen’s Scottish holiday estate, Balmoral.
