Mee stunned by player gong

BEN MEE has admitted his surprise at being voted Brentford supporters’ player of the year ahead of Ivan Toney, writes Dom Smith.

Mee joined on a free transfer last summer and has enjoyed a brilliant season in a team that has a shot at European qualification going into the final day.

“I was expecting Ivan to win it!” said the 33-year-old, who side face Manchester City on Sunday. “To score 20 goals is some achievement, but any of the lads could have won it.

“It’s been a good move for me, I’ve really felt the love since I’ve come here.”
