Hall leads field after stunning career-best 62

HARRY HALL shot a career-best 62 to take a three-shot lead on the opening day of the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club.

The Englishman took only 22 putts to register a score of eight-under par in Fort Worth, Texas. He picked up eight birdies without dropping a shot and managed to save par from 15 and 30 feet.

Harris English is Hall’s closest rival, on five-under. Tom Hoge, Adam Schenk, Robby Shelton and Andrew Putnam are all tied for third, a shot further back.

Michael Block, the 46-year-old club professional who dazzled with his heroics at the US PGA Championship, struggled to an 11-over-par 81 that left him dead last in the 120-player field and 19 shots back of leader Hall.
