Christian Louboutin steps back into the black in UK as sales climb 48% to £53m

CHRISTIAN Louboutin, the luxury footwear brand worn by pop stars including Taylor Swift, above, and Rita Ora, has stepped back into the black in the UK, new accounts show.

Documents filed with Companies House for Christian Louboutin UK also outlined how sales are bouncing back after Covid-19 hurt retailers.

In the year to August 2022 turnover soared 48.3% to £53.4 million as trade benefited from lockdown rules being lifted and international tourists coming back to stores here.

Designer Christian Louboutin founded his brand famous for its signature red soles in Paris in 1991 with co-founder Bruno Chambelland. Today it has an online business and is sold from 150 locations worldwide.

The UK business, which recorded a pre-tax profit of £1.2 million up from a £3.2 million pre-tax loss, sells shoes from 12 sites including concessions in Harrods and a standalone shop on Mount Street in Mayfair.

The firm, owned by parent company Christian Louboutin SAS, said in its report: “The directors remain confident in the longer term the business will deliver sustainable sales growth.”
