HELENA STARS AT CANNES AUCTION

Lizzie Edmonds

LEONARDO DICAPRIO watched on as a Damien Hirst painting of himself sold for nearly £1 million at a star-studded amfAR fundraising gala in Cannes.

Jourdan Dunn, Kate Beckinsale, Emma Weymouth and Heidi Klum attended the party at the Hotel du Cap-EdenRoc last night. The event, which is now in its 29th year, is one of the biggest nights at the film festival. It aims to raise millions for Aids research, predominantly through an auction.

One of the top items on offer was the Hirst painting of DiCaprio, which was signed by both the actor and the artist. DiCaprio — who was in the south of France for the premiere of his new film, Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon — turned up just in time to see the painting sold to the highest bidder for $1.2 million (£963,000). Other top bids on the evening included a new Aston Martin and a pair of Chopard emerald earrings.

Queen Latifah was the host of the night, which was also attended by

Eva Longoria, Ashley Graham, Alessandra Ambrosio, Helena Christensen and Rebel Wilson. Live musical performances were by Queen star Adam Lambert — who sang a song in tribute to Tina Turner — Halsey, Bebe Rexha and Gladys Knight.
