BOY, 11, LEFT CRITICAL IN HOSPITAL AFTER COLLISION WITH POLICE VAN

AN 11-year-old boy was in a critical condition in hospital today after being hit by a police van in Lancashire.

The boy was crossing a road in Lancaster just before 8.30pm last night when he was struck by a police vehicle responding to an emergency call. Lancashire Police said an investigation is under way and that it had referred the matter to the Independent Office for Police Conduct. “Our thoughts are with the child’s loved ones at this time,” it said.
