Vinicius’ chance to shine

Dom Smith

ALEKSANDAR MITROVIC begins at least a three-match ban tomorrow, with Carlos Vinicius set to lead the line for Fulham in his absence.

Mitrovic this week apologised to referee Chris Kavanagh for manhandling him in the FA Cup tie at Manchester United — which earned him a red card and an automatic three-match ban.

The FA may still extend that ban — which begins when Fulham play at Bournemouth — to 10 games.

Vinicius (above), who scored 10 goals in 22 matches when on loan at Tottenham two seasons ago, is expected to replace the Serbian. Willian also serves his one-match ban for the handball on the line which sparked the reds for Mitrovic and manager Marco Silva. Bobby De Cordova-Reid is expected to replace Willian, while Silva will manage from the dugout tomorrow, unless a non-standard FA disciplinary hearing expected “in due course” issues him a second ban of the season and is pushed through before kick-off.
