‘BEYOND NET ZERO’ LATEST EARLS COURT PLAN

Jonathan Prynn

THE owner of the 40-acre Earls Court development site where the exhibition centre once stood today unveiled latest plans for a new “beyond net zero” scheme with 4,500 new homes.

The Earls Court Development Company (ECDC) said it would see a number of structures “celebrated and repurposed” rather than demolished to help reduce emissions following consultation with residents. These include the Lillie Bridge Depot Building and the existing deck over the West London rail lines, known as The Table.

The site was sold by previous owner Capco for £425 million in 2019 after a bruising planning row with Hammersmith & Fulham council.

ECDC chief executive Rob Heasman said: “Having set the vision to bring the wonder back to Earls Court, we have been listening and we will continue to ensure our designs reflect what we are learning. The local community has been very clear on its priorities for the site which have been fundamental to how we begin to realise the potential of this huge opportunity. We are enormously ambitious for what we want to achieve here, to go beyond net zero, champion innovation and create something truly special.”
