You are right to point out the significant push factors that lead people to leave their homes and take the harrowing journey across land and sea. According to the UN Refugee Agency, at the end of last year more than 82 million people worldwide were forcibly displaced as a result of persecution, conflict, violence or human rights violations. Climate change will only accelerate this trend. The movement of people is not restricted to the Channel, nor is it likely to dissipate any time soon. Jack
