A 12-YEAR-OLD girl has died after suffering “catastrophic” injuries in an attack in Liverpool city centre, with four schoolboys as young as 13 arrested on suspicion of murder.

Merseyside Police said Ava White was assaulted following a row after Liverpool’s Christmas lights switch-on last night. The youths — one aged 13, two aged 14 and one 15-year-old, all from the Toxteth area — are now being questioned. When police arrived at the scene they found Ava, who was with friends, receiving first aid from a member of the public. She died soon after in Alder Hey children’s hospital.

Merseyside Assistant Chief Constable Jon Roy said there had been “a verbal argument” which led to Ava’s “catastrophic injuries.”
