Sudan leaders detained in military coup
SUDAN’S prime minister and several cabinet members were arrested today in an apparent attempted military coup.
Abdalla Hamdok was put under house arrest after failing to support the bid for takeover, the information ministry said. Protesters, above, took to the streets of the capital Khartoum to denounce the detentions. Sudan has been on edge since a failed coup plot last month unleashed bitter recriminations between military and civilian groups meant to be sharing power after former leader Omar al-Bashir was ousted in 2019.
