TAYLOR Wimpey today showed how it has benefited from the housing boom in the pandemic, with the builder more than doubling sales.
First-half revenue reached £2.2 billion, up from £754.6 million. It completed 7303 home sales, excluding joint venture properties, during the period. That was up from 2771 a year earlier, amid disruption at the start of the pandemic. The figure is also above pre-Covid levels.
The industry has been boosted by people reassessing housing needs in lockdowns and a stamp duty holiday.
Shares in Taylor Wimpey, which said full-year operating profits will be ahead of expectations, rose 5.67p to 170.52p.
