Cambridges wish Meghan happy 40th birthday

THE Duke and Duchess of Cambridge today wished Meghan a happy 40th birthday as Prince Harry’s wife celebrated the milestone in California.

The social media accounts of William and Kate posted a picture of Meghan during her 2018 tour of Australasia with Harry, with the message: “Wishing a happy 40th birthday to The Duchess of Sussex!”

Minutes later, the Royal Family Twitter page posted a similar message with a series of images of Meghan, right, while she was a working royal.

Meghan was reported to be celebrating the birthday with Harry and the couple’s children Archie, two, and Lilibet, who was born in

June, at their £11 million mansion in Santa Barbara. Reports suggested she would host an intimate party with close friends and family.

It follows a difficult year for the Sussexes and the royal family. They decided to step down as senior royals early last year, in a move dubbed Megxit, and moved to Canada then California. The rift between the couple and the royal family has grown since the Sussexes’ bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March, during which they accused the royal family of racism.

Harry and Meghan have signed deals — thought to be worth well over £100 million — with Spotify and Netflix and Harry is to pen an “accurate and wholly truthful” tell-all memoir.
