Hislop’s happy to take potshots

IAN HISLOP had no shame

about making cheap jokes at last night’s Paul Foot awards. The Private Eye editor instructed those at home to “raise a glass to our winners — though do be careful with the red wine if say you just redecorated your home with gold wallpaper. Or, if you’re listening in the car while taking a drive to test your eyesight— do watch out for pedestrians”. Hislop said he was praising those who didn’t give up when told “move on, get over it… people aren’t interested, end of story”. This year’s award went to Financial Times journalists who uncovered the Greensill scandal.
