Scots fans have a long memory

GORDON BROWN’S first footballing memory doesn’t bode well for Scots looking forward to Friday’s Euros clash with England. In 1961 Brown was listening to the radio when Scotland were beaten 9-3. It was, Brown told a Tortoise Media event, “a humiliation”. He recalls:

“The goalkeeper of the day, Frank Haffey… was so humiliated that he had to emigrate to Australia. And 30 years later he asked ‘is it safe to come back’, and people said no.”
