‘New’ trade deal seems familiar

THE Government’s trade deal with Australia is hailed as “a model for Britain’s post-Brexit commercial policy”. It is, however, aligned to the existent Aus-EU treaty, and (since the EU is Australia’s third biggest trading partner) likely to be subordinated to it, in case of conflict. Our new “model” is very similar (and slightly inferior) to the old one. James McGrory
