Lampard in the frame for Palace job

FRANK LAMPARD is interested in the Crystal Palace job if they decide to replace Roy Hodgson this summer.

Lampard has been out of work since he was sacked by Chelsea in January and has emerged as a leading contender to take over at Selhurst Park.

Hodgson’s contract expires at the end of the season and Palace are considering whether to stick with the 73-year-old or make a change.

Palace chairman Steve Parish is expected to go in a new direction and Lampard is among his top candidates to take over.

Palace are particularly interested in Lampard because of his work with young players at Chelsea, where he gave opportunities to Mason Mount, Reece James and Tammy Abraham. With more than 10 first-team players out of contract this summer, Palace are keen on a youth policy as they plan to rebuild and refresh the oldest squad in the Premier League. Their new manager is also expected to be backed in the transfer market.

Other contenders include former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe and Burnley’s Sean Dyche.
